The effects of trauma to the eye (for example as a result of a head injury) vary
widely from minimal damage to very severe conditions.
The image below is a photograph of the back of the eye of a person who suffered
blunt trauma to the eye, captured by
Digital Retinal Photography.
The blunt trauma resulted in scarring at the back of the eye. Vision in this eye
is, however, surprisingly good because the scarring is away from the most important
visual area known as the macular (seen here as a central red spot-like area).
